Green Bay at Philadelphia (-2.5) (O/U-46.5) – The Packers (10-6) (3-5 V) beat Chicago 10-3, at home, and squeaked into the playoffs with some help. They enter the playoffs winning two straight. QB Aaron Rodgers completed 19 of 28 passes for 229 yards with one TD and one interception; he was also top rusher with seven carries for 21 yards. RB Brandon Jackson had seven carries for 19 yards. WR Greg Jennings made four catches for 97 yards, while TE Donald Lee added a one yard TD. The Packers defense got six sacks and two interceptions. The Packers' win means the Eagles, with one of the worst pass defenses in the NFL, an unsettled situation at right cornerback, and a rookie seventh-round pick starting at safety; will begin the playoffs against a potent passing attack led by quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers finished the regular season with 28 passing touchdowns (sixth most before the Sunday night game) against 11 interceptions. He had a 101.2 passer rating, third-best in the NFL. Rodgers can quickly dissect a defense's plan, making multiple looks important, several Eagles said. Facing any talented quarterback, the Eagles have the same approach: Get in his face and knock him down. But there are two problems with that philosophy against Rodgers. The Eagles' pass rush slowed down late in the season, and Rodgers has fared even better against the blitz than not. The Packers offense is ranked ninth overall (358ypg) with an fifth ranked pass game (257ypg) and a 24th ranked running game (100ypg). They score the 10th most amount of points per-game (24.2ppg). Greg Jennings leads the Packers offense with 12 TD’s. The Packers battle the Eagles 12th ranked defense (326ypg), their 15th ranked pass rush (216ypg) and their 14th ranked rush defense (109ypg). The Eagles give up the 21st most amount of points per-game (23.6ppg). Asante Samuel has seven interceptions for the Eagles.
The Eagles (10-6) (4-4 H) lost to Dallas 13-14, at home, but had already clinched a playoff berth. They enter the playoffs losing two straight. QB Michael Vick was rested and backup QB Kevin Kolb made 18 of 36 passes for 162 yards with one TD and three interceptions. RB Jerome Harrison had 21 carries for 99 yards, while Chad Hall made six catches for 84 yards with a TD. Their defense had two sacks and no interceptions. The Packers matchup is the most dangerous one the Eagles could have drawn when Sunday began. Instead of facing the mistake-prone Giants or inexperienced Buccaneers, the Eagles will play a team with a ferocious pass rush and excellent quarterback. The Eagles defense has not recorded more than two sacks in a game since facing the Bears Nov. 28. Their best pass rusher, Trent Cole, has just one sack in the last four games he's played, and the defensive-line rotation is thinner with Brandon Graham out for the season. Vick said his playoff experience as an Atlanta Falcon was so long ago, it has no bearing on this situation. He’s going to have his hands full against the Packers defense, but with his scrambling abilities he can find open wide outs and run for that first down. The Eagles offense is ranked second best overall (389ypg) with a ninth ranked pass game (243ypg) and a fifth ranked running game (145ypg). They score the third most amount of points per-game (27.4ppg). Jeremy Maclin leads their offense with 10 TD’s. The Eagles go up against the Packers fifth ranked defense (309ypg), their fifth ranked pass rush (194ypg) and their 18th ranked rush defense (114ypg). The Packers give up the second least amount of points per-game (15ppg). Tramon Williams has six interceptions for the Packers.
