The New Orleans Saints (11-5) are looking to win back to back Super Bowls, which is the toughest thing to do in the NFL. The Saints won the 2010 Super Bowl by playing balanced football as a team, making big plays, and staying a healthy at the right time. They come into the 2010-11 season equipped with all the tools to win it all again. It starts with the third best passing offense in the league lead by Super Bowl MVP Drew Brees who has thrown for at least 4000 yards in five consecutive seasons and a plethora of explosive receivers in Marques Colston, Jermey Shockey, Robert Meachem and Reggie Bush. Their running game is well balanced, but not entirely needed. RB Pierre Thomas has turned into one of the best backs in the league after they traded away Mike Bell to Philadelphia. This offense will once again create problems for NFL defenses especially behind the genius mind of head coach Sean Peyton who calls the plays and lead the league in total offense yards three out of the four years with the Saints. The Saints are ranked sixth on offense (372ypg) with a third ranked pass game (277ypg) and a 28th ranked ground game (94ypg). The Saints score the 11th most points per-game (24ppg). Lance Moore leads the Saints offense with eight TD’s. They have averaged 18ppg in their last three games and have given up 22.3ppg.

The Saints defense was a minor weakness early on in the season, but what they gave up, they got back on offense. Their defense did improve under defensive coordinator Gregg Williams and Darren Sharper's big plays to improve the Saints defense to the fourth best in the NFL. The Saints have a fourth ranked defense (306ypg), a fourth ranked pass rush (193ypg) and a 16th ranked rush defense (112ypg). The Saints defense gives up the seventh least amount of points per-game (19.2ppg).

Momentum and health means everything when contending for a Super Bowl and the Saints will have to deal with some adversity. TE Jeremy Shockey missed Week 17’s game and is questionable this week, RB Pierre Thomas is dealing with a groin injury; WR Marques Colston underwent knee surgery and will play, but could cause problems if they go deep into the playoffs.
