The Baltimore Ravens (12-4) won their final four averaging 26ppg while giving up an average 17.2ppg, from a team well known for their staunch defense. The Ravens may have the Defensive Player of the Year in Ed Reed, who led the league in picks, and missed the first six weeks of the season. But overall, the Baltimore defense isn’t as fierce in the front seven as they used to be. Their offense isn’t close to their Super Bowl offense and nobody knows which QB Joe Flacco will show up. Despite recording his second +3000 yard season with a record 25 TD’s and record low 10 interceptions he’s had issues during their final two games. They had trouble beating Cleveland and Cincinnati, both under .500 clubs. Flacco has plenty of weapons at his disposal from the hard hitting running back Ray Rice to one of the best NFL possession receivers in the NFL in Anquan Boldin. The problem is none of these offensive players have produced well in the NFL regular season. Rice has only two 100 yard games this season but his ability to catch the ball in the flat out of the back field is a major weapon for Joe Flacco. RB’s Ray Rice and Willis McGahee have a combined 12 TD’s. Mainly, Baltimore’s NFL betting odds hinge on Joe Flacco, who has thrown one touchdown and six picks in five career playoff games. He has to be better if the Ravens are going to come out of the AFC. The Ravens are ranked 22nd on offense (322ypg) with a 20th ranked pass game (208ypg) and a 14th ranked running game (114ypg). The Ravens score the 16th most points per-game (22.3ppg). Anquan Boldin leads their offense with seven TD’s.
On defense the Ravens still are a force to reckon with. Their D has kept them alive in many games. Ray Lewis and Ed Reed have put in some hard years with the Ravens defense are they getting a little long in the tooth yet? Lewis is one of the most intimidating linebackers in NFL history and he is still going strong this season. Ed Reed is playing his best football in years as the season heads into the NFL Playoffs. Reed picked off two passes in Week 17 against the Cincinnati Bengals. Reed is in better shape for this NFL post season than in previous years. The Ravens have a 10th ranked defense (318pg), a 21st ranked pass rush (224ypg) and a fifth ranked rush defense (93ypg). The Ravens defense allows the third least amount of points per-game (16.9ppg). Ed Reed leads the Ravens with eight interceptions.
