Odds to Win the 2009 NFC Championship

by Matt Foust on Saturday, January 10th, 2009

The 2009 NFC Championship kicks off next Sunday afternoon at 3:00pm ET on FOX. Of the four contenders remaining, the defending world champion Giants are the favorite to win the George Halas Trophy. Online bookmaker BetUS.com has New York listed at +110 money line odds to repeat as NFC Champions.Odds to Win the 2009 NFC Championship

The Giants began defense of their championship in rather stellar fashion, starting the 2008 season with a four game winning streak. In fact, New York lost just once in the season's first 12 weeks; however, they finished up by losing three of their last four contests. Despite the shaky conclusion, Tom Coughlin's team did enough to secure the number one seed in the NFC playoffs by virtue of their 12-4 record.

New York, after resting up last weekend, will now face NFC East rival and occasional nemesis, the Philadelphia Eagles. The Giants beat the Eagles 36-31at Lincoln Financial Field back in week nine, but they did not fare so well against them at the Meadowlands. Philly overcame the Giants 20-14 on December 7th at Giants Stadium.

Should quarterback Eli Manning lead his team past a hot Eagles unit, they will likely face a Carolina team that they beat 34-28 in overtime just a few short weeks ago.
