NFL Results: Green Bay Packers pound Seattle Seahawks

by Alexander Banks on Saturday, January 12th, 2008

Coming off of a week of rest the Green Bay Packers showed that the rest was beneficial as the NFL Results of their NFC Divisional playoff game was a demolishing of the Seattle Seahawks.  After giving up two early turnovers and falling behind 14-0 the Packers outscored Seattle by a 42-6 margin winning by a lopsided 42-20 score.  Even playing in somewhat of a snowstorm it didn’t seem to matter as the Packers scored on 6 consecutive possessions.  Early on Green Bay showed they were going to be a bit conservative giving the ball to Ryan Grant and even stuck with him after the two fumbles.  It paid off as Grant shredded the Seattle defense running for 201 yards on 27 carries with three touchdowns.  All of that was done against a Seattle that ranked 6th in the NFC during the regular season against the rush.  Even Brett Favre got in on the action as he ended the game a very efficient 18 of 23 for 173 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions.

Seattle QB Matt Hasselbeck was quoted as saying that he thought they could produce good NFL Results in the running game versus the Packers.  He couldn’t have been more wrong as they finished with a total of only 30 yards on the ground that including holding Shaun Alexander to 20 yards on 9 carries.  As a result they had to put the ball in the air and both the bad weather and good Green Bay defense worked against them.  As a result, Green Bay’s #3 ranked passing defense was able to hold Hasselbeck to only 19 of 33 passing for 194 yards.

The Packers now only have to wait for tomorrow’s Dallas Cowboy/New York Giants NFL Results where the Cowboy are listed as +7.5 favorites at Bodog.com,  to see where they go next.  Inside theory will be pulling for the Giants as Favre has not won in Dallas in eight tries.
