And then there were four, and probably not the four most people expected. Regardless, the divisional playoffs sorted through the tares and now only the true contenders remain. Current Super Bowl odds at Sportsbook.com have the Pittsburgh Steelers listed as the favorite to win Super Bowl XLIII at +150 on the money line.
The most surpising development of the weekend, without question, was the Cardinals impressive beat down of the Carolina Panthers. Arizona, who lost at Carolina earlier in the year, capitalized on five Panther turnovers to put together a 33-13 victory. Prior to the game, Kurt Warner and company were listed at +3000 money line odds to win the Super Bowl. They are still the darkhorse candidate, but those odds are now +500.
The Eagles, a +4 underdog in their game against the Giants, also shocked quite a few people with their imposing win at the Meadowlands. Neither team practiced a great deal of ball security, but New York's three turnovers proved to be more than they could overcome. Philadelphia's stellar defense also limited the Giants to just three third down conversions in 13 attempts.
In the most improbable of scenarios, the Cardinals will now play host to the Eagles for the 2009 NFC Championship Game. This is familiar territory for Philly as they have played in five of the last 10 NFC Championships, but it is uncharted waters for Arizona. The Cardinals will participate in their first ever Super Bowl if they are able to get past Andy Ried's club.
Sportsbook.com's Current Super Bowl Odds:

Arizona Cardinals +500
