The Baltimore Ravens now have two playoff wins under their belt and, as a result, will face their bitter rival, the Pittsburgh Steelers, for the right to participate in Super Bowl XLIII. The Ravens, who entered post-season play as the AFC's number six seed, have proven to be more than that after taking out the top seeded Titans in last weekend's divisional round. The Ravens shocked most everyone with their performance this season under new Head Coach John Harbaugh. Almost no one foresaw them finishing above .500, but not only did they do that, they challenged for the AFC North crown late into the season while pounding out an 11-5 overall record.
Baltimore has not let up since NFL playoff action began, earning a dominating win in the Wild Card round against Miami and closing out a nail biter versus the Titans at LP Field in Nashville last weekend. They also forced veteran passer Chad Pennington into four interceptions in the 27-9 victory.
Harbaugh's team did not play as well in Tennessee, but did enough to win nonetheless. The Titans outgained the Ravens by 180 yards, averaged 2.4 more yards per rush, and held the ball almost nine minutes longer; however, they also had three turnovers to the Ravens zero. Baltimore capitalized on the Titans lack of ball security to lock up a 13-10 win and a third meeting with the Steelers.
The Ravens fell to Pittsburgh 20-23 in overtime at Heinz Field in week three and were unable to avenge that loss in their second meeting in week 15, losing 9-13 on a controversial Santonio Holmes touchdown catch in the game's final minute.
