It is not often that you have one of the hottest teams in the NFL a large Super Bowl Predictions to win this year’s Super Bowl, but such is the case with the San Diego Chargers. After winning their 8th game in a row last week, the Chargers have the task of traveling to New England to take on the unbeaten Patriots. If it wasn’t for the fact that they must first win this game after getting beat soundly by this same team earlier in the year, this number could be much different. The Chargers admittedly had a horrible start to the season and are nowhere near the team that they were when they took the beating from New England. The Chargers could rightfully have enough to go the distance as they bring into the rest of the playoffs the #8 ranked defense in the AFC during the regular season in yards given up at 320. They also sport the top running back in the game in LaDainian Tomlinson who led the league in rushing this year. It won’t be an easy task however as they will be going against the 4th ranked rushing defense in the AFC this week.
Going this deep into the playoffs certainly wasn’t first thought to be in the cards since they needed to beat the Indianapolis Colts at Indy before even getting to the Patriots. They were able to accomplish that even without the likes of Tomlinson and QB Philip Rivers most of the second half with a defense that forced Indy QB Peyton Manning to have to throw the ball more than he wanted to when they held the running game to a total of only 99 yards. The big question will be can they do it this week to even get into the Super Bowl.
Obviously the public doesn’t believe that the Chargers will be able to atone for last weeks embarrassing loss to the Patriots when they were the number one seed as they are listed as a huge -14 point spread and +500 money line underdog. It is no wonder why they are currently listed at +700 on the money line to win the Super Bowl this year.
