The Vikings third year runningback keeps getting better with age. Following his stellar first pro season in which he set an NFL record for most rushing yards in a single game (296) and the most 200-yard rushing games for a rookie (2). Peterson was named the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and was then awarded the MVP award for his performance in the Pro Bowl and became only the fifth player in NFL history to have more than 3,000 yards through their first two seasons. Peterson opened the 2009-10 season by rushing for 180 yards on 25 carries and 3 TD’s, setting a new Vikings franchise record for opening day rushing. He again broke the hundred-yard barrier in Week 6 with 143 yards rushing on 22 carries. Peterson had another 100 yard game with 133 yards rushing on 18 carries. In a week 11 tromping of the Lions , Peterson was named the FedEx Ground Player of the Week. He was voted to the Pro Bowl December 29 as the starting RB for the NFC team.

The Vikings finished the regular season with a 12-4 SU record, where they went 6-0 SU before their first loss in Week 7. Peterson finished the regular season with 1,389 yards rushing with 18 TD’s; he led the Vikings 12th ranked ground game. He is also a two dimensional back with 436 yards receiving. In his first playoff game against the Dallas Cowboys, Peterson had 26 carries for a low 63 yards with no TD’s. He was up against the Cowboys fourth ranked rush defense, so that explains the low numbers. His next opponent is the New Orleans Saints and their 21st ranked rush defense.
