The Saints top WR Marques Colston broke out early as a rookie in 2006. By Week 9 of the season, Marques had 54 catches for 869 yards and seven TD’s through nine games. He was leading the league in receiving yardage and tied for the lead in touchdowns, and was one of the favorites to win the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award, which he did. He helped the Saints to the playoffs and a 10-6 record, but they lost in the NFC Championship game. Colston was among the NFC leaders in receptions (70), receiving yards (1,038) and receiving TDs (8). For the 2007 season, Colston set a team record for receptions (98) and record for touchdown receptions in a season (11). In 2008 he broke his thumb and he sat out until Week 7. Despite not playing for the start of the season, nearer to the end Colston displayed that he was, and is, still Drew Brees' go to guy as he ended the season with 760 yards and added 5 TD’s. Marques Colston still holds the NFL record for most receptions in a player's first two seasons with 168. In four seasons with the Saints, Colston has 4,074 yards receiving and 33 TD’s.

The Saints had a great regular season where they finished 13-3 SU and finished atop the NFC, where they received a first round bye with home field advantage. In their first playoff game against the Arizona Cardinals Colston made six catches for 83 yards with a TD. The Saints fourth ranked pass game goes against the Vikings 19th ranked pass defense.

The Saints next opponent is the Minnesota Vikings, at home, where they face their sixth ranked rush defense.
