Indianapolis Colts 2010 Superbowl Odds

by Matt Foust on Sunday, January 24th, 2010

Indianapolis Colts 2010 Superbowl Odds: It all comes down to today for first year Head Coach Jim Caldwell and his NFL best 15-2 squad. The Colts must get by the team that wrecked their undefeated season for a shot at their second Super Bowl title in the last four years. The football odds makers at online sportsbook BetUS.com have Indy listed as a big favorite against the Jets in today's AFC Championship Game, but they also have the Colts listed as the favorite to take home the Lombardi at +120 on the moneyline in their 2010 Superbowl Odds.

Oddly, while the Colts have the best record in the NFL, it seems many football fans have soured on the team's Superbowl Indianapolis Colts 2010 Superbowl Oddschances given the way they closed out the regular season. That sentiment was not eliminated after a sloppy 20-3 win over Baltimore in last weekend's Divisional playoff. Indianapolis more than covered the spread, but Baltimore's demise appeared to have as much to do with them as it did the Colts. The Ravens had four turnovers and held the ball almost eight fewer minutes than Indy, but managed to gain just five fewer yards.

Despite the fact that the Jets won six fewer regular season games than the Colts, Indianapolis will need a much better performance today than the one they put together last Saturday if they want to see Miami. New York, which beat Peyton Manning and company 29-15 in week 16 to help it keep its playoff hopes alive, is the kind of team that will mire a game down and pull it out at the end, regardless of location.

The Colts will have the advantage of playing their starters the entire game this time around, and Manning will be prepared for the Jets vaunted defense, which he carved up for 192 yards in two quarters just a few weeks ago. Manning is 7-4 lifetime against the Jets, but his rating is a modest 82.2 against them. The face of the Colts franchise has been less successful in two AFC Championships, going 1-1 with a miserable 53.2 completion percentage and 57.3 passer rating.

However, should Indianapolis dispose of the Jets, one would have to like their chances against either New Orleans or Minnesota, based on Manning's numbers anyway. The Tennessee product is 5-2 in seven starts against the two squads with a 113 quarterback rating (67.2 comp. percentage, 20 touchdowns, seven interceptions).
