New York Jets 2010 Superbowl Odds

by Matt Foust on Sunday, January 24th, 2010

New York Jets 2010 Superbowl Odds: The New York Jets have been the underdog since the Playoffs began three weeks ago, so why wouldn't they be the little guy still? Well, they are, and a considerable one at that. Granted it is not the +1400 odds that the team was getting a couple of weeks back, but the 2010 Superbowl Odds at online sportsbook Bookmaker.com still have Rex Ryan's squad listed at almost 8 to 1 odds to win the Lombardi Trophy.

The Jets are just the sort of team that confounds odds makers and fans alike because they have an element to their gameNew York Jets 2010 Superbowl Odds that is as solid any in the league, but that is coupled with one of the biggest wild cards. New York's defense and rushing attack are statistically the best in the NFL and given the results of the their first two playoff games, they have proven to be the best in actuality as well.

Neither Cincinnati or San Diego could consistently move the ball against the Jets (312.5 yards per game average) and neither team could stop New York's ground game (170 yards per game average). That figures to be the same against the Colts given that Indy is allowing 124.2 yards per game on the ground while averaging just 78.6 of its own rushing yards per contest.

The wild card factor is obviously quarterback Mark Sanchez. The rookie has had a number of great moments this season, but he has also grounded his team with great frequency due to a lack of ball security. So, what will he do today or on February 7th should the Jets shock the Colts this afternoon? That is the mystery and the reason why New York is a longshot to win it all.

However, if his play of late is any indication, the Jets might be worth the risk at +785 moneyline odds. No, Sanchez has not been brilliant, but he has protected the ball much better, throwing four touchdowns to five interceptions (three picks in 10-7 loss to Atlanta) in his last seven starts. That is all New York needs him to do, though, as evidenced by its 6-1 record during that span.
