Boston Celtics still Eastern Conference Favorite

Despite the Boston Celtics recent mediocre play, they are still’s overwhelming favorite at 1-2 odds to win the Eastern Conference Championship.  With the addition of Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett, the Boston Celtics started the season on a record breaking pace by winning 29 of their first 32 games cashing for clients following our NBA Picks Experts.  However, ever since, the boys in green are just 4-4 including a 95-83 loss to the lowly Charlotte Bobcats.
Richard Hamilton, Chauncey Billups and the regular cast of characters otherwise known as the Detroit Pistons appear to be the Boston Celtics’ main competition coming out of the East. At 30-13 with a playoff tested roster, it is obvious why the Detroit Pistons are currently 9-5 odds to represent the Eastern Conference in June for the NBA Title. Like the Celtics, the Pistons are also having some trouble as of late.  Over the last 10 games Detroit is just 4-6, after starting the season 26-7.
Now that we are at the midway point to the season, one has to wonder if the recent slumps by the East’s to best teams is a coincidence or not. The one thing each team has in common is they are led by seasoned veterans.  The Celtics’ top big three (Garnett, Allen and Paul Pierce) are all over thirty years old, while Detroit’s starting five average just over 30 years of age.  Perhaps age is starting to show as each team slows from their smoldering starts.
If age slows the two favorites down, the Orlando Magic and the Cleveland Cavaliers both represent very good value of winning the East as they are both currently 12-1 odds at  Unlike the two favorites in the East, the Magic have plenty of young legs that should remain fresh throughout the second half.   Led by MVP candidate Dwight Howard (22 pts 15 reb), the Magic have an extremely balanced attack with every starter either 28 years old or younger. has posted basketball betting odds on the NBA Eastern Conference Championship:
