Arizona Cardinals 2009 Superbowl Props

by Thomas Jensen on Saturday, January 31st, 2009

In just over 48 hours, the 2009 Superbowl will commence and sports bettors across the world will place millions of dollars in wagers on the very popular prop bets. We’ve been talking a lot about the Steelers prop bets, so it is time for some Arizona Cardinals betting action. Among the 300 Superbowl prop bets available at Sportsbook.com, the one that stands out to Point-Spreads.com and many other NFL Picks experts is the Cardinals total rushing yards over or under 72.5.

The Stat Fox reps have two different opinions on the Cardinals covering the 72.5 rushing yards. Doug Upstone says, “UNDER. The Cardinals have rushed the ball well in three previous playoff games and not one of those teams is even close to being Pittsburgh. Over 60 yards probably, but 72.5, don’t think so.” And analyst Steve Makinen pronounces, “OVER. The Cardinals running backs aren’t blessed with speed but their dedication to the run throughout the postseason suggests at least 25 or so rush attempts.”

Another great Arizona Cardinals Superbowl prop bet that stands out for me is betting on how many points Arizona will score. The favorite on this prop bet is still a long shot with 20 or 21 points, both posting betting odds at +800. When the Sportsbook.com research team was asked, they had this to say: “While Pittsburgh is expected to score 27 points, Arizona is most likely to score 20 or 21 (both +800 odds). The Cardinals have only scored less than 20 points three times all season.”

When it comes to the Cardinals quarterback Kurt Warner, anything is possible. At 37 years old, no one saw his resurrection coming. Warner was supposed to be finished after losing his starting job to Eli Manning but now has a chance to hoist the Lombardi trophy a second time after winning a Super Bowl with the Rams in 2000. “I think the perception around the league about me was that I couldn't play anymore,” stated Warner. “(They thought) ‘There's no more football left in him. He's basically just trying to survive. (The Cardinals) may bring this guy in because of his name, but it's probably going to be just like everything else: The Cardinals won't win. Kurt Warner can't really play. So I guess it's a fine mix.'”

Bet on Kurt Warner total passing yards Over/Under 259.6 (-115) at Sportsbook.com.
