2010 Pro Bowl Picks, Predictions & Betting Odds: The 2010 Pro Bowl will take place today at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Florida. The annual NFL All-Star clash, which has been played at Aloha Stadium since January of 1979, is set to kickoff at 7:20pm ET on ESPN. 2010 Pro Bowl Picks, Predictions & Betting Odds at online bookmaker SPORTSBETTING.com have the NFC listed as a -2.5 against the spread favorite to win the game.
The Pro Bowl, which typically takes place the weekend after the Super Bowl, has been an even affair since the NFL and AFL merged in 1971, with the AFC capturing 19 wins and the NFC 20. That trend has continued in recent years with both conferences winning five games apiece since 2000. The NFC, however, has the longest win streak in the Pro Bowl, putting together four in a row from 1978 to 1981. The AFC nearly matched that in the last decade, winning three in a row from 2001 to 2003 and six of seven from 1997 to 2003.
This weekend it will be the NFC looking for three in a row, though, as it has won the last two games, beating the AFC 42-30 in 2008 and 30-21 in last year's contest. Two of this year's Super Bowl participants, Drew Brees and Peyton Manning, played prominent roles in that game as Brees connected on 11-of-19 passes for 142 yards and a touchdown while Manning completed 12-of-17 passes for 151 yards and a score. It was Cardinals wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald that grabbed MVP honors, though, catching five passes for 81 yards and two touchdowns.
While Brees and Manning will not particpate in today's game, both rosters are loaded with headlining grabbing talent. The MVP watch includes Titans running back Chris Johnson, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, Texans wide receiver Andre Johnson, Steelers defensive end James Harrison, Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Cowboys wide receiver Miles Austin, Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, and Vikings defensive end Jared Allen.
Johnson is probably the front-runner to win the award given his game breaking ability. The East Carolina product, who averaged 5.6 yards per carry and scored 16 touchdowns, rushed for over 2000 yards and set an NFL record with 2509 yards from scrimmage.
