This weekend marks the end of the NFL betting odds season when the New England Patriots take on the New York Giants with the only thing left to do is crown a champion and name the Super Bowl MVP. Everywhere you turn there is information concerning this matchup which pits the highest scoring offense in NFL History against an unsung New York defense that finished the regular season ranked 7th in scoring in the NFL. You also have two QB’s who in their own way have led their respective teams into this final game by playing mistake free football or have made the big play to get the win.
While most seem to agree that the Patriots will win this game there is still much discussion and dissenting opinions on whether or not they will cover the number considering that they are a horrible 2-8 ATS their L10 after blowing through the first part of their schedule. In addition to the hoopla surrounding these two teams there are also some side discussions on who will win the Super Bowl MVP. Certainly you have the current regular season MVP Tom Brady who has also been a repeat Super Bowl MVP that currently is listed as the 1 to 2 favorite to win this coveted trophy at Bodog.com.
So who else looks to be in the running for this award. Let’s break it down by position with some of the well known players in this game.
QB – Eli Manning vs Tom Brady – Manning is listed at 7 to 2 while Brady is the aforementioned 1 to 2 favorite.
RB – Laurence Maroney vs Brandon Jacobs – Maroney is listed at 5 to 1 while Jacobs is listed at 10 to 1.
WR – Randy Moss vs Plaxico Burress – Moss is listed at 4 to 1 while Burress is a higher 8 to 1
Although there certainly are other players on the field these players seem to have the inside track and would hope to have the biggest impact on their respective teams ability to win the game. While I am certainly not going to go against conventional wisdom, considering the fact that Moss has been nonexistent in the playoffs my money might go with Wes Walker as he is listed at 5 to 1.
