New York Giants stun Patriots 17-14 in Super Bowl |

 Point-Spreads.com would like to congratulate head coach Tom Coughlin and the entire Super Bowl 42 Champion New York Giants. The New York Giants have done the impossible as a 12 point underdog and beat the New England Patriots 17-14 in Super Bowl 42 earning their backers as much as $400 dollars on every $100 bet. The Giants came out on the field before the game to the Kayne West song "I can't get much Stronger" and that sure was the case tonight.
The Giants are the lowest seed to ever play in the Super Bowl and won the game after a guts performance by Eli Manning and the Giants defensive line led by DE Michael Strahan.
Tom Brady and New England came out to Ozzy Ozbourne's "Crazy Train" and what a "Crazy Train" it turned out to be for the Patriots. Tom Brady has come from behind to win three of his past Super Bowl victories but this time came up short. I know Don Shula and the entire 1972 Miami Dolphins are stoked that the New York Giants to end New England's perfect season run.
The Giants were able to convert third downs in the opening drive and scored first with a 32 yard field goal. The drive by Eli Manning was the most downs in the opening drive of a Super Bowl game. Holding the Giants to a field goal was a victory for the Patriots defensive.
On the kickoff, New England Patriots running back Laurence Maroney ran the ball down to his own 44 yard line. Setting up Tom Brady and the Patriots high octane offensive with great field position. Brady threw a incompletion on his first two pass attempts in Super Bowl 42 and a total of 4 incomplete passes in the first drive. It looked like his
Giants secondary Antonio Pearce committed pass interference in the end zone on 3rd and 10 yards to give the Patriots a automatic first and goal from the one yard line. Maroney ran the ball up the middle but was unable to score as time ran off the clock ending the first quarter.
Score at the end of the first quarter in Super Bowl 42 was New England 00 New York 03. There were only 2 series in the entire first quarter.
Maroney got in on the opening play of the second quarter of Super Bowl 42. New England 07 New York 03.
GoDaddy.com broadcast a Danica Patrick commercial during the break in action. The ad had Danica Patrick stripping and advised viewers to go to GoDaddy.com in order to see Danica Patrick Exposed.
When the action resumed, the Patriots kicker accidently knocked the ball out of bounds which gave the Giants starting position on their own 40 yard line.
Gisele Bundchen, Jim Carrey and Jennu McCarthy, Pamela Anderson were all in skyboxes at Super Bowl 42.
Brandon Jacobs picked up a blitz giving Eli Manning enough time to hit Amani Toomer on a 38 yard bomb to tight rope walk the sidelines. Patriots defender Ellis Hobbs picked off a tipped pass from Eli Manning to end the Giants drive. The interception was the first one throw by Manning since Ellis Hobbs picked him off in week 17 of the NFL regular season.
The Iron Man movie trailer debuted as a Super Bowl 42 commercial. Iron Man looks awesome and the movie comes out on May 2nd, 2008.
When play resumed after the Iron Man movie trailer, the Giants defensive was able to hold the Patriots to 3 and out forcing New England to punt.
Giants return man McQuarters returned the 45 yard punt to his own 38 yard line. Smith and Green sacked Manning on his first possession after the interception. Then on second down, there was a fumble on the exchange with rookie Ahmad Bradshaw. Lucky for Bradshaw he was able to rip it away from a Patriots defender to retain possession. New York was fortunate it did not turn the ball over to New England deep in the Giants end of the field on this series.
Welker returned the punt to his 29 yard line before the game went to another commercial. In the Super Bowl, we saw a lizards dancing to Michael Jackson's Thriller with Naomi Campbell after drinking Life Water.
Once the action resumed, the Giants defense sacked Tom Brady forcing a 3 and 17. New York's defensive front collapsed the Patriots offensive line and Justin Tuck sacked Brady. Back to back three and outs for the Patriots offensive.
The "Never Say Never" campaign for the new Yukon hybrid by GMC was aimed to promote the fleets new Green vehicles.
Giants started the next drive on their own 40 yard line. Ahmad Bradsaw had a 13 yard run for a first down in the opening series. On third down, Manning had the ball stripped by Adalis Thomas and recovered by New York. Bradshaw got charged with a illegal bat forward and the Giants got the ball back with a 10 yard plenty pushing them out of field goal range. His 3rd and 18 attempt was almost picked off.
Kevin Faulk signaled for a fair catch on his own 11 yard line giving Tom Brady and the Patriots offensive the ball to start the series after the 2 minute warning.
Pepsi had Justin Timberlake get drug all over the world by someone drinking their product in one Super Bowl commercial.
Brady was hit by Gibril on the opening play of this series. Then the Giants called a time out after stopping Maroney for a loss of three yards on second down leaving Brady with 3rd and 13 from their 8 yard line. Stallworth was able to convert the first down. Randy Moss caught his first catch of the game with 22 seconds left in the first half.
The Giants stripped and recovered the football on the following possession with 10 seconds on the clock. Manning hurdled a Hail Mary which got knocked down in the end zone to end the second half.
The Score at the end of the second quarter in Super Bowl 42 was New England 07 New York 03. The teams leading at Half Time have a 32-7 SU record in the Super Bowl.
The Giants defensive front kept pressure on Brady forcing him to rush passes and throw incompletion. The Patriots offensive line is clearly having trouble containing the Giants pass rush. The Giants defense has held the New England Patriots high powered offense to 81 yards in the first half.
On offensive, after starting red hot in the opening series Eli Manning cooled down and threw one interception for a lackluster first half Super Bowl 42 performance.
Maroney took the opening kick off return of the second half out to the 21 yard line before he met a ton of New York defenders. Wes Welker got a 15 yard catch and run on the opening play of the second half. The drive ended with the Giants bring pressure on 3 and 5 and allowing Brady to dump the ball off two yards short of the first down. Forcing a punt.
New England Patriots Bill Belichick challenged the play since he thought that 12 men were on the field as they snapped for the punt. Chase Blackburn of the Giants was unable to get off the field before the punt and Belichick won the challenge and got a first down. New England was unable to capitalize on the turn over as Brady turned the ball over on downs.
Eli Manning took a shot for the end zone throwing a bomb to Plaxico Burress but the receiver was triple covered and was unable to come down with the ball. The Giants punted the ball on fourth down and the ball went out of bounds on the 10 yard line.
This was the worst starting field position for New England and they got backed up on first down on a false start. Brady threw an incompletion on first and 15 from his own 5 yard line and got hit on a blitz causing him to get clobbered. Wes Welker caught a 16 yard completion on second down to get the Patriots out of their own end zone.
Welker caught a 19 yard catch and run in the series to give Brady another first down out to the Giants 49 yard line. A false start penalty pushed New England back 5 yards with only 14 seconds left on the clock before the end of the 3rd quarter. Tom Brady aired it out to Randy Moss on second down but threw the pass short. Brady got hit as he let the ball go.
The 3rd quarter ended with the score New England 07 New York 03.
The fourth and final quarter for Super Bowl 42 started with the New England Patriots punting on fourth down. The punt went into the end zone and Eli Manning and the Giants started the fourth quarter from their 20 yard line.
It was the second fewest points scored in Super Bowl History. The only other game with less points was Super Bowl 3 with nine points.
Eli Manning threw a 45 yard strike to his tight end Kevin Boss bring the Giants down to the Patriots 31 yard line. Manning completed a pass on third down to Steve Smith getting the Giants down to the Patriots 12 yard line.
Eli threw a 8 yard touch down strike to Tyree to take the lead back. Score after the touchdown was New England 07 New York 10.
Maroney's thirty yard kick off return was negated after the Patriots were called with holding during the return. The Patriots had to start on their own 11 yard line instead of the 33 yard line. Brady got most of the yardage back with a strike to Randy Moss bring them to the 28 yard line. The Giants defense was able to get pressure on Brady for the rest of the series and the Patriots punted.
The Giants started the next series on their own 29 yard line. Manning missed a pass to Burress that could have resulted in a touch down and New York was forced to punt with 8:21 left on fourth down.
Welker called for a fair catch with 7:54 left in Super Bowl 42. Welker had 3 catches on the drive and set a NFL Super Bowl record for the most receptions in a Super Bowl by a receiver with 11 catches. Brady finally seemed to be back to his typical form in this series driving the Patriots down to the 7 yard line and first and goal with 3:12 minutes left.
Brady threw a dart to Randy Moss to score a touchdown with 2:42 left in the game to take the lead. Score became New England 14 New York 10.
The Giants started their final drive on their own 17 yard line. Amani Toomer caught the first catch of the drive for 11 yards and a first down.
Adriana Lima starred in a steamy Victoria's Secret Valentines Day Super Bowl commercial at the two minute warning.
Brandon Jacobs went for it on fourth and 1 yards from their own 36 yard line and made it keeping New York's Super Bowl dream alive. Eli Manning escaped being tackled and threw the ball down the field. David Tyree caught the ball by pressing it to his helmet as he came to the ground on the Patriots 24 yard line with 59 seconds left.
Eli got sacked by Thomas with 50 seconds left forcing New York to use its final time out. Steve Smith picked up an 11 yard strike from Manning to get a first down after going out of bounds to stop the clock on the 14 yard line with 39 seconds left. Manning threw a floater to a wide open Plaxico Burress to take the lead with 35 seconds in the game.
The score with 35 seconds remaining was New England 14 New York 17. Brady has all three of his time outs remaining needing a field goal to tie the game and head into overtime. Brady threw an incompletion on first down. On second down, the Giants defensive lineman sacked Tom Brady for a ten yard loss forcing the Patriots to use a time out.
On third and 20, Brady threw a bomb down to Randy Moss but the pass was broken up. The perfect season was on the line with 10 seconds left in Super Bowl 42 and its 4th down and 20 yards. The Giants broke up a bomb on 4th down and the game was over. The New York Giants win Super Bowl 42 and prevent the New England Patriots from completing a perfect season!
