Proposition Super Bowl Bets

Proposition Super Bowl BetsAs time draws near to the clash between the New England Patriots and New York Giants in Super Bowl 42 the excitement heightens not only for the fans of these teams but also for the general public who just loves to bet on the game.  Not only can you bet on the game itself by taking the point spread, the money line, and/or the posted total but there are also a number of proposition Super Bowl Bets as well.  There are so many out there that it can make your head spin.  So after scouring the internet and searching what proposition bets were available I have lined up the ones that, up to this point, appear to be getting the most action.  If nothing else, I also added my own slant on which ones could present some profits.

1.     First Touchdown Scorer  – By far and away the odds on favorite to score first in the Super Bowl is New England WR Randy Moss at BodogLife.com listed at 7/2.  Most of that is due to the 23 TD’s that he caught during the regular season.  But is that a good bet?  Consider that Moss has no touchdowns in the New England’s first two playoff games and have given up the first score in both.  In addition they also gave up the first score when playing the Giants earlier.  So how about Giants RB Brandon Jacobs at 6/1 odds.

2.     Player to win the MVP    Certainly everyone is jumping on the Tom Brady bandwagon.  After all he won the MVP during the regular season and is a two time Super Bowl MVP.  Therefore he’s listed as the favorite at 1/2 odds.  Certainly if the Giants win it’s probably a look to see Eli Manning grab the trophy as he is listed at 7/2.  But if the Patriots win the value here could be with Laurence Maroney with a 5/1 bargain.

3.     Which Team will Record the First Sack    These two teams led the NFL in sacks as the Patriots produced 47 while the Giants had a league high 52.  It’s a bit perplexing to see the Patriots as the favorite to get the first sack so it certainly would be a good value to take the Giants in this one as they are listed at +120.

4.     Team to Score First and the Final Outcome    In the Patriots past three games they have given up the first score only to come back and win the game.  So why not take a look at the New York Giants to put the first points on the board (which they did in their regular season meeting) only to lose the game at the end.  This one doesn’t seem very far fetched and you can get good value with the Giants at +250 to score first and lose the game.
