The Pro Bowl on Sunday should provide a lot of excitement with the best players in the NFL on display. Usually the game is all about offense and that may be the case again although two of the top quarterbacks in the game, New England’s Tom Brady and Green Bay’s Brett Favre will not be playing. SBG Global reports that early NFL betting has the public taking AFC on the Road.
Pro Bowl betting Preview
AFC vs. NFC
Sunday, 4:30 pm Eastern – FOX
SBG Global Opening Line: AFC - 3 , Total 64
The AFC is favored in the game and probably has the edge at quarterback with Peyton Manning and Ben Roethlisberger. LaDainian Tomlinson is the starting running back with Joseph Addai and Fred Taylor the backups.
Reggie Wayne, Braylon Edwards and T.J. Houshmandzadeh are the starting receivers. New England’s Tom Brady and Randy Moss were elected to the Pro Bowl but decided not to play. Favre is not playing for the NFC so it will be Matt Hasselbeck, Tony Romo and Jeff Garcia. Adrian Peterson is the starting running back for the NFC with backups Marion Barber and Brian Westbrook. Larry Fitzgerald, Terrell Owens, Donald Driver and Torry Holt are the receivers with Jason Witten and Chris Cooley the tight ends. Redskins Pro Bowlers Chris Samuels , Chris Cooley and Ethan Albright will wear No. 21 NFC jerseys honoring slain teammate Sean Taylor. "I feel his presence with me all the time," Samuels says. "I keep the picture of us from last year's Pro Bowl inside my locker."
SBG Global Current Line: AFC - 3 , Total 63
The Pro Bowl definitely has some interesting story lines like Tampa Bay’s Jeff Garcia being reunited with Dallas’ Terrell Owens. "Everything's fine with T.O.," Garcia said, "We're teammates again." Garcia is the oldest player in the Pro Bowl as he will turn 38 next month.
Here are some NFL betting notes for Sunday’s game. Although he AFC is favored that does not always mean they win or cover the spread. They hold a 19-18 all-time edge against the NFC in the Pro Bowl and even though they won last year 31-28, they did not cover the spread. Bettors that look at the Pro Bowl will look to bet the total since they may not have an opinion on the side. The last four Pro Bowls have seen two overs and two unders. Last year’s game saw the AFC win 31-28 but the game stayed under the total of 65. The previous year the game went under as well, as the NFC won 23-17. The rest of the games this decade in the Pro Bowl have been very high scoring and have gone over the total.
