2010 NFL Draft Odds – Top RB Prospects: There is a deep crop of running backs in this year's NFL Draft with names like Toby Gerhart, Dexter McCluster, Montario Hardesty, and Joe McKnight all available. However, because the talent at the position is so deep, most draft experts are anticipating only two or three running backs being taken in the first round. The most likely candidates to be grabbing up next Thursday night at the Radio City Music Hall are Clemson's C.J. Spiller, Fresno State's Ryan Mathews, and California's Jahvid Best.

C.J. Spiller (Senior – Clemson): Spiller posted some ridiculous numbers at Clemson last year, rushing for 1212 yards (5.6 yards per carry) and 12 touchdowns while catching 36 passes for 503 yards and four scores. The 5' 11" Florida native also amassed 1005 return yards with five touchdowns (four kick returns, one punt return). If those numbers were not enough to grab NFL scout's attention, Spiller's 4.27 40 yard dash at the combine was. There is no way Spiller escapes the first round, but he is the only guarantee at the position.
Ryan Mathews (Junior – Fresno State): Mathews ranked second in the nation in rushing last year with 1808 yards (Gerhart 1871) and he was first in rushing yards per game at 150.7 per contest. The California product averaged 6.6 yards per carry and scored 19 touchdowns. He is primarily a rusher, though, as he only caught 11 passes for 122 yards and no scores. Ran an impressive 4.37 forty at the combine and he broad jumped 10' 01".
Jahvid Best (Junior – California): Did not accumulate the same numbers last year that he did his sophomore year after missing three games due to injury. He still rushed for 867 yards and 12 touchdowns, though, while averaging 6.1 yards per carry. He also had 213 receiving yards and four receiving scores. Best lit it up in 2008, rushing for 1580 yards (8.1 yards per carry) and 15 touchdowns. The 21 year old junior ran a 4.34 forty at the NFL Combine.
