Former Michigan offensive tackle Jake Long , the oddsmakers choice to be the top pick in the NFL Draft on Saturday has reached a contract agreement with the Miami Dolphins, owners of the first pick in the draft. Long is considered to be the best offensive lineman in the draft, however, not considered to be the best overall talent in the draft. In need of quality linemen, it had been suspected that Dolphins president of football operations Bill Parcells wanted a guarantee that his top pick would be in camp immediately. According to sources, Long has agreed to a five-year $57.75 million contract, a few million less than last years top pick JaMarcus Russell signed for at Oakland. With Long off the board, the Saint Louis Rams are now “on the clock” with the second pick. Had Miami not taken Long No.1, it was almost certain the Rams would have taken the Michigan tackle as their first pick. Our sources at Point-Spreads.com have told us that St. Louis will draft LSU defensive tackle and Outland Award winner Glenn Dorsey . Oddsmakers at online sportsbook Bodoglife.com do not agree with our sources. Bodoglife shows Virginia DE Chris Long as a 1/1 odds favorite to go No. 2 to the Rams while the odds on Dorsey going to the Rams are 37/20. The Atlanta Falcon’s, owners of the third pick in the draft will most likely will go with Boston College quarterback Matt Ryan. Bodoglife.com has Ryan as a 1/1 odds favorite to go third. Darren McFadden , the most exciting player in the draft is expected to go fourth to the Oakland Raiders. There are conflicting reports coming out of the Raiders offices. It seems owner Al Davis prefers McFadden while coach Lane Kiffin covets Chris Long (if available) or Ohio State OT Vernon Gholston.
