We are not exaggerating when we say the Kansas City Chiefs need to draft an entire team and with 13 picks in today’s NFL Draft, could get more than half the job done. Following last year’s four-win season, the Chiefs need to fill many holes. We expect Kansas City to start its rebuilding in the defensive trenches. (Breaking News) It appears Chris Long, will not be available to the Chiefs if reports are accurate that St Louis has reached a decision to draft the defensive end out of Virginia as the No. 2 pick. With Chris Long off the board (unofficially), the Chiefs are expected to draft Ohio State defensive end Vernon Gholston . The 6’4” 265 lb sack specialist declared early for the draft after his junior season. In 2007, Gholston was the Big 10 defensive player of the year. [With the trade of Jared Allen (pictured), the Chiefs need to address their needs on the defensive line.] Gholston is the third highest rated defensive player in the draft behind Long, and Glenn Dorsey of LSU. Dorsey is not expected to be available by the time the fifth pick rolls around. However, if Dorsey does fall below the fourth pick, then the Chiefs would probably take Dorsey who was the most dominant defensive lineman in the country last year. Another option the Chiefs have is to move up or down to fill their needs. Chiefs needs: QB, DL, OL Draft position odds provided by online sportsbook BetUS.com.
