There is no reason to suspect that the Pokes cannot repeat as division champion and make another playoff run this year. The Giants are coming off an 8-8 campaign that saw their defense fall apart, Philadelphia has a new quarterback, and Washington fired its coach after winning just four games. Dallas, on the other hand, has all of its playmakers back on both sides of the ball.
Quarterback Tony Romo, who threw for 4483 yards and 26 touchdowns in 2009, returns to lead an offense that ranked second in the league in yards per game at 399.4. Romo has all the same weapons at his disposal in Miles Austin, Jason Witten, Roy Williams, Felix Jones, Marion Barber, and Tashard Choice. He also welcomes ultra-talented rookie Dez Bryant to the fold.
The biggest question mark on the offense, and on the team really, is the offensive line. The boys up front allowed 34 sacks last season and played inconsistently in a number of games. Left tackle Flozell Adams is gone as a result; he will be replaced by either Doug Free or Alex Barron, who was acquired in a trade with the Rams.
The Cowboys defense played superbly a season ago, ranking ninth in yards per game allowed (315.9), fourth in rush yards per game allowed (90.5), and seventh in sacks (42). The only loss from that unit is safety Ken Hamlin, who departed in free agency.
