2011 Super Bowl Picks

by Matt Foust on Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

2011 Super Bowl Picks: There are plenty of powerhouse teams in the NFC this season, and one could make an argument for at least three or four of them representing the conference in the Super Bowl. However, only one team can earn that priviledge and 2011 Super Bowl Picks at SPORTSBETTING.com are anticipating that the New Orleans Saints will be that squad at +450 moneyline odds. Coming in after the Saints in the online bookmaker's odds leaderboard are the Dallas Cowboys (+550) and Minnesota Vikings (+650).

New Orleans Saints (+450): The Saints were not on many Super Bowl radars going into last season, and New Orleans 2011 Super Bowl Picksscuttled more than a few projections by going 16-3 in route to the franchise's first Lombardi Trophy. Now Drew Brees and his cohorts will attempt to become the ninth team to win back-to-back league championships as they prepare for training camp with laregly the same roster. Defenses seldom had an answer for the Saints offense last season and it is doubtful that many were produced over the offseason.

Dallas Cowboys (+550): On paper, the Cowboys appear to be every bit the equal of New Orleans. In fact, Dallas defense was better last season and that will almost certainly be the case again in 2010. What the Cowboys need to do to swing things in their favor is become a more efficient offensive team. Dallas talent on offense was evident as the team cranked an average of 399.4 yards per game (second in the league), but the Cowboys ranked 14th in scoring at 22.6 points per contest. Tony Romo and company must find a way to translate that yardage into more points on the scoreboard if they hope to win the NFC.

Minnesota Viking (+650): The Vikings were an eyelash away from playing the Colts in Super Bowl XLIV, and almost anyone would contend that had the team been the top seed in the NFC, they would have met Indy. But, the fact remains that they did not and Minnesota could not overcome the Saints in the Superdome. The Vikings now must play the Brett Favre retirement game for a another month or so; however, if he returns, as most predict he will, Minnesota has everything it needs to make run at the Lombardi.
