Seattle Seahawks 2010 NFL Predictions

by Matt Foust on Thursday, July 29th, 2010

Seattle Seahawks 2010 NFL Predictions: The Seahawks failed to recover from a 4-12 2008, going 5-11 last season in a one and done stint with Jim Mora Jr. on the sidelines. The poor showing led to the hiring of Pete Carroll, who won seven Pac 10 titles in a nine year run at USC. Despite Carroll's impressive resume, 2010 NFL Predictions at Sportsbook.com are not looking for a great deal of improvement out of the Seahawks this season as the team is presently listed at +130 odds to finish Over 7.5 wins.

Pete Carroll takes over a squad that had equal amounts of trouble both offensively and defensively last season. Seattle Seattle Seahawks 2010 NFL Predictionsranked 21st in the league in total offense, averaging just 317 yards per game while the defense ranked 24th overall, giving up an average of 356 yards per contest. Quarterback Matt Hasselbeck had a rough year, throwing as many interceptions (17) as touchdowns in route to a 75.1 passer rating. The beleaguered signal caller was not aided by the ground game either with the team posting less than 100 rush yards per game.

Carroll and the front office made some big personnel changes as a result of last year's struggles, adding quarterback Charlie Whitehurst, running back Leon Washington, wide receiver Mike Williams, left guard Ben Hamilton, tight end Chris Baker, and running back Quinton Ganther via trade or free agency. The club also drafted first year contributors in Russell Okung (OT), Earl Thomas (FS), and Golden Tate (WR). In the midst of all the additions, Seattle waved goodbye to nine players who started a combined 68 times in 2009, including longtime backup quarterback Seneca Wallace and wide receiver Nate Burleson.

All the offseason finagling should lead to an improved product on the field, but the Seahawks are still not the equal of the 49ers or Cardinals in terms of overall talent. However, there are enough pieces in place, particularly on offense, to surprise more than a few opponents. The key will be the performance of Hasselbeck, who should have a better chance at staying both healthy and consistent with the upgrades along the offensive line (Okung, Hamilton).

Seattle Seahawks 2010 NFL Predictions: 6-10, Third Place NFC West.
