St. Louis Rams 2010 NFL Predictions

by Matt Foust on Thursday, July 29th, 2010

St. Louis Rams 2010 NFL Predictions: The St. Louis Rams have had the unfortunate distinction of being the worst team in football over the past three seasons. The club hit rock bottom last year, though, in Steve Spagnuolo's maiden head coaching voyage with a 1-15 record. According to the latest 2010 NFL Predictions at Sportsbook.com a big turnaround is not in order this season as the Rams are presently listed at +2500 moneyline odds to win the NFC West and -130 odds odds to finish under five wins.

Steve Spagnuolo had little chance of fashioning St. Louis into a winner last year as the team's roster simply did not have St. Louis Rams 2010 NFL Predictionsthe horses to be competitive week in and week out. While no one is expecting an NFC West title any time soon, the current version of the Rams should be a major upgrade over the past two seasons.

St. Louis added a number of players on offense and defense through trade and free agency as well as the draft. The Rams started by selecting what they believe will be their quarterback of the furture in Oklahoma's Sam Bradford. Bradford is bound to take some rookie lumps and his durability is a question mark; however, if he stays on the field, he has the chance to be a special player given his accuracy and arm strength.

Bradford will have one of the league's best running backs to lean on in Steven Jackson, provided the seven year veteran stays healthy. Jackson rushed for 1416 yards in 15 games last season while catching a team high 51 passes. The Oregon State product had offseason surgery due to chronic back problems, but is reportedly ready for training camp.

The offensive line is a work in progress, but should improve with the drafting of Indiana tackle Rodger Saffold. Saffold and Jason Smith, the Rams first round pick in 2009, will share some miscues this season, but also give the team reason for hope going forward.

St. Louis' defense ranked 29th in the league last year, giving up an average of 373 yards and 27.3 points per game. Those numbers should drop this season with the signing of defensive tackles Chris Hovan and Fred Robbins as well as linebackers Na'il Diggs and Bobby Carpenter. Those players join solid, young pieces in Chris Long (DE), James Laurinaitis (LB), and OJ Atogwe (FS).
