2010 NFL Predictions – NFC East

by Matt Foust on Monday, August 2nd, 2010

2010 NFL Predictions – NFC East: The NFC East is often considered one of the toughest divisions in football, whether warranted or not, making it no surprise that the division is generating a good deal of hype heading into the 2010 season. The Cowboys, Eagles, and Giants are all considered strong playoff contenders, which makes sense considering the teams have combined to go 118-73-1 over the past four seasons. 2010 NFL Predictions at Sportsbook.com have Dallas separating from the four team field, though, as Jerry Jones' team is favored at +105 moneyline odds to win its third division title in the last five years.

Dallas Cowboys (+105): The Cowboys won the NFC East a season ago with an 11-5 overall record and a 4-2 mark in division 2010 NFL Predictions - NFC Eastplay. They remain the most talented squad in the division as all of last season's principal performers return, including quarterback Tony Romo, wide receiver Miles Austin, and linebacker DeMarcus Ware. Not only do the Pokes have a good chance at winning the division, they will have a legitimate opportunity to play in a Super Bowl in their home stadium.

New York Giants (+280): New York had a far less tumultuous offseason than the Eagles and figure to rebound from last year's 8-8 record. The Giants defense gave up far more points (30th in the league) than is acceptable for a team of its talent level and the fact that it ranked 13th in yards per game allowed is proof of such. Look for the defense to return to its normal performance level this season, thrusting the team back into the division title mix.

Philadelphia Eagles (+275): Most pundits anticipate that the Andy Reid machine will keep rolling right along this year, but they may be discounting the contributions of Donovan McNaab in doing so. While the Eagles still have a great deal of talent on the roster, they are a step below both New York and Dallas. A winning record should be in the cards, but a division title is probably not.

Washington Redskins (+600): The Redskins should be a much improved club with the hiring of Head Coach Mike Shanahan and the addition of quarterback Donovan McNaab. The team still has major issues along the offensive line, at wide receiver, and in the backfield (aging), though, which will keep it in the NFC East cellar for at least one more season.
