New Orleans Saints 2010 NFL Predictions & 2011 Super Bowl Predictions: Point-Spreads.com is breaking down the New Orleans Saints out of the NFC South Division. The 2010 NFL Predictions Experts at online sportsbook SBGGLOBAL.com have made the New Orleans Saints +750 odds to win Super Bowl XLV.
PROS: The Saints led the NFL with an average of 31.9 PPG and scored 24 or more points in each of the first 13 games of the season. Quarterback Drew Brees proved last season that not only can he post big statistical numbers, but he can make the big play when needed in big games. While the Saints don't have a superstar receiver, Brees does have a plethora of talented receivers including Marques Colston, Devery Henderson, Robert Meachem and tight end Jeremy Shockey.
The Saints also had one of the best running attacks in the league in 2009 despite not having one dominant runner. Pierre Thomas was the top runner but Reggie Bush and now departed Mike Bell also helped contribute to the Saints ranking as the sixth best running team in the NFL. With Bell gone, the question is whether Thomas and Bush can fill the coid or if another runner will be needed. Strength was the offensive line where four players started all 16 games and Jahri Evans and Jon Stinchcomb earned Pro Bowl honors.
The 2010 NFL Predictions Experts at online sportsbook SBGGLOBAL.com have made the New Orleans Saints +350 odds to win the 2011 NFC Championship Title.
CONS: Very few teams have won the Super Bowl with a defensive unit that ranked 20th in the league in points allowed and 25th in yards allowed. However, the Saints were able to advance through the season despite the defensive short comings because they had a defense that may have surrendered yards and points but was also capable of putting points on the board. The Saints intercepted 26 passes, returning five for touchdowns and recovering 19 fumbles.
Free Safety Darren Sharper was the leader of the big play unit with nine interceptions for 376 return yards and three touchdowns. The Saints also had 35 sacks, led by Will Smith with 13. Linebacker Jonathan Vilma has emerged as a Pro Bowl caliber linebacker and newcomer Alex Brown will fill the coid left by defensive end Charles Grant.
