Detroit Lions 2010 NFL Predictions & 2011 Super Bowl PredictionsPROS: One benefit of being as bad as the Lions have been in recent years is that they are annually able to stockpile top tier talent by drafting at the top of the order. After making some horrendous decisions during the middle of the decade, the Lions have finallys tarted taking advantage of that opportunity over the last three years. Each of their three first round draft picks from 2007 (Calvin Johnson, Gosder Cherilus and Matt Stafford) have become starters and have shown the potential to be offensive cornerstones for years to come.

Johnson has displayed the potential to become a superstar and should team with Stafford to give Detroit a great pass catch tandem for years to come. Cherilus became the starting right tackle as a rookie and provides a building block on the offensive line as the Lions continue to look to improve that unit. The Lions made a number of moves in the off season to improve the offense, most notably the drafting of running back Jahvid Best and the addition of veteran tight end Tony Scheffler and wide receiver Nate Burleson. They should help take some of the pressure off Stafford, Johnson and leading rusher Kevin Smith.

The 2010 NFL Predictions Experts at online sportsbook SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Detroit Lions +4500 odds to win the 2011 NFC Championship Title.

CONS: While the offense made marginal improvement in 2009, the Detroit defense continued to be the worst in the NFL. The Lions allowed 20 or more points in 14 of 16 games and surrendered more than 30 points eight times. The addition of second overall pick Ndamulong Suh will help the defensive line, but he will not be able to turn the unit around alone. The signing of veteran defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch from Tennessee and trade for defensive tackle Corey Williams from Cleveland should also improve a squad that had 26 sacks and only nine pass interceptions a year ago.

The 2010 NFL Predictions Experts at online sportsbook SBGGLOBAL.com have made the Detroit Lions +3300 odds to win the NFC North.
