New York center Nick Mangold (stinger) will not travel with the team to Houston. Neither will wide receiver Plaxico Burress (ankle) and guard Brandon Moore (hip). Backup quarterback Mark Brunell (finger) did not participate in team drills. His status for the game is uncertain. Jets coach Rex Ryan was not happy with his offense's performance in Friday's practice. Their offense still looked out of synch as they prepared for Monday's game. They had seven false starts, three interceptions and a rash of dropped passes Friday. Though the Jets made fewer mistakes yesterday, they still had a few false start penalties and one illegal motion. Shonn Greene dropped two passes out of the backfield.
Houston receivers Andre Johnson (finger), Jacoby Jones (ankle) and Trindon Holliday (hamstring) might not play against the New York Jets on Monday night. Running backs Arian Foster, Ben Tate and Steve Slaton have hamstring injuries. Defensive end J.J. Watt, the first-round pick, has been outstanding in camp. James Casey, Lawrence Vickers and Zac Pauga should be an intense battle for fullback. Matt Schaub will start at quarterback and may play one drive or one quarter. Matt Leinart is expected to play at least two quarters. Rookie T.J. Yates should get mop-up duty.
