Online bookmaker BetUS.com has released their odds for the 2008 NFL Rookie of the Year. There are 40 players listed (22 offensive players and 18 defensive players) as well as the Field at +800 odds. The favorite to take the award this year is Oakland running back Darren McFadden at +350 odds. Every player receiving odds was selected in either the first or second round of this year's draft. Only six players who were selected in the first round did not receive odds (Ryan Clady - OT Denver, Gosder Cherilus - OT Detroit, Joe Flacco - QB Baltimore, Jeff Otah - OT Carolina, Sam Baker - OT Atlanta, and Duane Brown - OT Houston). Since 1990 the Associated Press has given the Offensive Rookie of the Year award to a running back 13 times, a wide receiver three times, and a quarterback two times. The AP has awarded the Defensive Rookie of the Year to a linebacker nine times, a safety one time, a cornerback two times, a defensive end four times, and a defensive tackle two times since 1990. There are two quarterbacks, eight running backs, seven wide receivers, and two linebackers being given odds by BetUS.com to win this year's ROY award.
