Indianapolis Colts vs Buffalo Bills 2010 NFL Preseason Picks, Odds & Predictions

by Matt Foust on Thursday, August 19th, 2010

Indianapolis Colts vs Buffalo Bills 2010 NFL Preseason Picks, Odds & Predictions: The Colts and Bills are in Canada this evening for a preseason battle at the Rogers Centre in Toronto. The north of the border event is scheduled to get underway at 7:30pm ET. 2010 NFL Preseason Picks, Odds & Predictions at Sportsbook.com have Indianapolis listed as a -3.5 against the spread favorite; the game total is set at 33, which seems to be the magic preseason number.

Chan Gailey's head coaching debut for the Bills did not go well as the team got stomped 42-17 in its preseason opener Indianapolis Colts vs Buffalo Bills 2010 NFL Preseason Picks, Odds & Predictionsagainst the Redskins last Friday night. Washington, which led 21-3 at halftime, had nine more first downs, 59 more yards, and three fewer turnovers than Buffalo in the lopsided affair.

Starting quarterback Trent Edwards added to the long list of Buffalo woes, completing 6-of-12 passes for 58 yards and an interception in route to a 29.2 passer rating. Rookie running back C.J Spiller did not turn many heads with his evening either, carrying the ball just four times for 16 yards.

The Bills also saw running backs Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch suffer injuries that will, in Jackson's case for certain, keep them out the rest of the preseason.

The Colts will be looking for a rebound performance as well after their exhibition opener followed a similar course to the Bills. Indy, which failed to cover as a +3.5 against the spread home dog, got dumped 37-17 by the Forty Niners at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday afternoon, despite leading 10-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Granted, Peyton Manning played well in limited action, completing 8-of-10 passes for 91 yards, but the rest of the offense struggled. Indianapolis totaled 235 yards for the game while averaging a miserable 2.4 yards per carry. Manning's backup, Curtis Painter, played a significant role in the team's demise by connecting on just nine of his 19 pass attempts for 64 yards and three interceptions (16 passer rating).

One positive, though, was the effort of rookie linebacker Pat Angerer. The second round pick out of Iowa recorded eight tackles and two sacks in his NFL debut.

Per usual, tonight's contest will feature limited reps for the starting units, particularly in the case of these two squads, which are both dealing with a number of injuries.

2010 NFL Preseason Betting Trend: The Colts are 1-4 straight up and against the spread in the preseason under Head Coach Jim Caldwell.
