The Chargers defense limited Chicago to 14 first downs and 216 total yards on the night. Rookie defensive tackle Cam Thomas, a fifth round pick out of North Carolina, had three tackles and a sack in his first game as a pro.
Dallas fell to 0-2 in the preseason with a 9-17 loss to Oakland at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington last Thursday night. The Pokes, which had just 13 first downs and 263 total yards, were done in by two second half interceptions, one which was returned for a touchdown, from rookie signal caller Matt Nichols. Tony Romo and second stringer Jon Kitna played well, though, combining to go 12-for-18 for 148 yards.
The Cowboys also failed to score in the red zone, despite four trips inside Oakland's 20 yard line. Red zone scoring was a problem for Dallas last season, and concerns might be rising in the Lone Star State with the team now 0-for-7 in two preseason games. Look for the Cowboys first sring to really push for some red zone scoring tonight.
