NFL Preseason Week 2: Kyle Orton and the Turnovers are scheduled to make a stop in the Pacific Northwest tonight for a little gig at Qwest Field. The Seahawks will be in attendance with the hopes of snagging a few wayward throws and their second win of the preseason. BetUS.com likes the birds' chances at -160 on the moneyline in their NFL Preseason Week 2: Denver Broncos vs Seattle Seahawks NFL Picks, Odds & Predictions.
Denver Broncos: Josh McDaniels watched Kyle Orton squander almost any chance he had at winning his head coaching debut. Orton, who came to Denver as a result of McDaniels' tiff with Jay Cutler, was 9-of-16 for 89 yards in the Broncos 16-17 loss to San Francisco, but he also threw three first half interceptions. The Broncos trailed the Niners 9-0 at the half thanks to Orton's horrific outing.
Orton's backup (for how long?) Chris Simms almost led the team to a come from behind win in the second half. The son of Phil completed 11-of-17 passes for 142 yards and two touchdowns.
Rookie running back Knowshon Moreno had a solid but brief appearance, rushing for 18 yards on three carries. He injured his knee in the game, though, and will be out the remainder of the preseason.
Seattle Seahawks: Jim Mora Jr. got a win in his Seattle head coaching debut as the Seahawks took out the Chargers 20-14 last Saturday night at Qualcomm Stadium. The game was tied 7-7 at the break, but the Seahawks capitalized on three second half turnovers from Chargers third string quarterback Charlie Whitehurst.
The team had a lackluster offensive outing, producing just 250 yards and a 2.8 yards per carry average. Matt Hasselbeck completed 3-of-5 for 27 yards in his long awaited return while his backup, Seneca Wallace, connected on 8-of-12 for 40 yards and a touchdown.
The Seattle defense held the San Diego ground game in check, allowing the Chargers just 55 yards in 21 rushing attempts (2.6 yards per carry). The team's first round draft pick, linebacker Aaron Curry, had two tackles in his first professional game.
Tonight's meeting between these two former AFC West rivals is set to start at 10:30pm ET. The game will be broadcast live on the NFL Network.
