New Miami Dolphins head coach Cam Cameron will definitely have his work cut out for him as he inherits a team that averaged only 16.3 PPG. The Dolphins acquired Trent Green in a trade and he should add some stability to the offense but he is now 37 years old and is coming off an injury plagued season in which his QB rating was just 74.1. Sportsbook.com has posted the Miami Dolphins betting odds at 75 to 1 to win Super Bowl XLII.
In 13 games, RB Ronnie Brown ran for 1008 yards and 5 touchdowns. Decent numbers, but Brown has a lot more talent than he showed last year and will need to pick up the pace this season. WR Chris Chambers had a disappointing season as well last year after a stellar 2005 campaign. He could be helped or pushed with the addition of rookie Ted Ginn Jr. The rookie out of OSU is an electrifying talent but a history shows, rookie wide outs often struggle.
"I don't know how many games they will win but they should keep games close and win some games they are not expected to," stated Point-Spreads.com
NFL expert handicapper Brad Marchetti. "The 11 to 1 betting odds of them winning the tough AFC East will be money wasted."
Led by DE Jason Taylor and LB Zach Thomas, the defense will be Miami’s strength once again this season. Last year, they held opponents to 289.1 YPG and 17.7 PPG. OLB Joey Porter was acquired and should add immediate attitude and a pass rush from Taylor’s opposite side. Porter is not among the league’s elite anymore but if healthy, he will register about 8 sacks or so.
Besides having to compete in a division against the NFL’s best team, the main concern for the Dolphins could be the age of key players. Many of their key players are getting up in years. If they can remain healthy and produce, the Dolphins could definitely surprise some folks.
