New York Jets Betting Odds

New York Jets Betting OddsGoing 10-6 and squeezing into the playoffs, the New York Jets were a huge surprise last year. It is no secret that QB Chad Pennington has one of the weaker arms in the NFL. Fortunate for him, accuracy is much more important when running the West Coast offense. Sportsbook.com has posted the New York Jets betting odds at 30 to 1 to win Super Bowl XLII.

Pennington welcomes back two reliable targets at WR in Laveranues Coles and the surprising Jerricho Crotchery. The Jets’ offense will get a huge boost with the addition of Thomas Jones in the backfield. Over the last two seasons, Jones has averaged 1272.5 yards and 7.5 scores.
"This team is well coached and has some smart players," stated Point-Spreads.com NFL expert handicapper Brad Marchetti. "I can see this team possibly landing a wild card spot but the 30 to 1 betting odds of winning the superbowl isn't going to happen with their questionable secondary."
Last season, the Jets’ defense wasn’t spectacular by any means but it was efficient. They gave up a 331.6 YPG but only yielded 18.4 PPG, good enough for sixth in the league. The weakness of the defense is without a doubt the line. Shaun Ellis is still decent but hardly the player he was a few years back.
Additionally, Dewayne Robertson hasn’t come close to living up to the hype that surrounded him when the Jets selected him with their first pick in the 2003 draft. The linebacking unit is ready to go with Jonathan Vilma leading the way. 2nd round pick David Harris could make an immediate impact at MLB.

In the secondary, the Jets have a good one in S Kerry Rhodes who had an outstanding season a year ago. Like the linebacking corp., the secondary could have a rookie starting as well. 1st round CB Darrelle Revis will most likely start opposite of Andre Dyson. Given the Jets upgrade in schedule, 10 wins might be tough to achieve this season but if Pennington can stay on the field and have another solid season, a push for the playoffs isn’t out of the question.
