2009-2010 Jacksonville Jaguars Super Bowl XLIV Odds, Picks & Prediction

by Scott Burgess on Thursday, August 27th, 2009

The Jacksonville Jaguars are coming off a terrible 2008 season after many oddsmakers had them pegged to make the Super Bowl. Injuries and underachieving players were their downfall as they look ahead to a much improved 2009-10 season. NFL oddsmakers at Bodog.com have the Jacksonville Jaguars at 35/1 odds to win Super Bowl XLIV. Be sure to get your Jacksonville Jaguars Super Bowl XLIV Odds, Picks & Prediction in now at Bodog.com

The Jaguars finished last season 5-11 and dead last in the tough AFC South. QB David Gerrard was awful throwing 15 TD’s with 3,620 passing yards, but a whopping 13 interceptions. The Jags added some veteran talent with hopes of staying healthy to have a chance at making a postseason run. They ditched a few troublesome, underachieving wide receivers and brought in Torry Holt to be the go to receiver on the club. Torry Holt had 64 catches for 796 yards along with three TD’s with St.Louis Rams. They signed OT Tra Thomas and drafted tackle Eugene Monroe in the first round. The presence of the additional beef on the front line, as well as a consistent and capable deep threat should help David Garrard bounce back in 2009. RB Maurice Jones-Drew is now the fulltime runner as Fred Taylor is no longer with the club. Jones-Drew finished last season with 12 TD’s after rushing for 824 yards. If he can continue to produce in the running and passing game with a full workload, the Jaguars could have a high power offensive attack. WR Matt Jones led all receivers with 65 catches for 761 yards and three TD’s.

On defense they got killed by injuries and now they’ve lost veteran leader Mike Peterson in the off season, along with DE Paul Spicer and DT Tony McDaniel. They can still be a force to reckon with, with John Henderson, Reggie Hayward and company. If Rashean Mathis, Reggie Nelson and Brian Williams all play up to potential and produce turnovers, the unit may be able to drastically improve over their poor 2008 showing. Most important of all however is that the big men on the line stay healthy and play a full, productive season.

Odds to win AFC South – 17/4
