San Diego Chargers vs New Orleans Saints 2010 NFL Odds, 2010 NFL Picks & 2010 NFL Predictions: Drew Brees meets his old team tonight as the Saints take on the Chargers at the Superdome in New Orleans. The preseason affair is scheduled to get underway at 8:00pm ET on CBS. 2010 NFL Odds, Picks & Predictions at online bookmaker BetUS.com have the Saints listed as a -3 against the spread home favorite; the Over/Under is set at 42.5.

San Diego dropped to 1-1 in the preseason last Saturday with a 16-14 loss to the Cowboys at Qualcomm Stadium. The San Diego Chargers vs New Orleans Saints 2010 NFL Odds, Picks & PredictionsChargers failed to capitalize on an excellent opening drive (nine plays, 65 yards) as Philip Rivers threw an interception at the Dallas seven. That miscue, along with a second quarter fumble by Darren Sproles, led to a 7-7 tie at the break, despite a tremendous yardage advantage for the home team.

Philip Rivers finished the evening 11-for-15 for 125 yards which, combined with the pick, resulted in a 70.1 passer rating. Rookie running back Ryan Mathews was impressive again, carrying the ball 12 times for 53 while reeling in one catch for 13 yards.

San Diego's defense gave up second and fourth quarter touchdown passes, but still played well in the setback, holding Dallas to 11 first downs and 194 total yards for the game.

New Orleans rebounded from a 27-24 preseason opening loss to the Patriots by thrashing the Texans last Saturday night in the Bayou. The Saints, which were listed as an against the spread pick'em in the contest, easily sent the score over the posted total of 41 by putting up 38 points to Houston's 20.

Drew Brees, who completed just 5-of-10 passes for 36 yards, and Reggie Bush had first quarter touchdown runs of one and nine yards, respectively, giving New Orleans a 14-0 lead. Backup signal caller Chase Daniel really got things rolling for the Saints, though, after taking over in the second frame. Daniel, a second year pro out of Missouri, completed 15-of-21 passes for 182 yards and three touchdowns.

New Orleans finished the night with 27 first downs and 409 total yards.

While the Chargers and Saints starters will play deeper into this evening's game, the respective coaching staffs will keep a close eye on the performance of fringe players as the first wave of cuts comes August 31st (roster must be at a maximum of 75 players).
