Washington Redskins vs New York Jets 2010 NFL Predictions, Odds & Picks

by Matt Foust on Friday, August 27th, 2010

Washington Redskins vs New York Jets 2010 NFL Predictions, 2010 NFL Odds & 2010 NFL Picks: The Washington Redskins are in New York tonight to take on the Jets at the New Meadowlands Stadium. This evening's week three preseason get together is scheduled to kickoff at 7:00pm ET. 2010 NFL Predictions, Odds & Picks at SBGglobal.com have the Jets listed as a -4.5 against the spread home favorite and the Over/Under set at 34.5.

Washington and New York both saw their preseason records even up at 1-1 last week as the Redskins fell 23-3 at home to Washington Redskins vs New York Jets 2010 NFL Predictions, Odds & Picksthe Ravens while the Jets overcame the Panthers 9-3 in Carolina.

Washington, which destroyed the Bills 42-17 in their first exhibition contest, posted some impressive offensive statistics against Baltimore with 20 first downs and 390 yards; however, the Redskins turned the ball over four times. Quarterback Donovan McNabb, who injured his ankle in the loss and will not play tonight, accounted for one of the giveaways with a second quarter pick. McNabb finished the night an abysmal 11-for-26 for 206 yards (54.3 passer rating).

Larry Johnson got the start in the backfield as Head Coach Mike Shanahan continues to sort through the team's myriad of weathered halfbacks. Johnson did not impress, carrying the ball eight times for four yards.

Washington's defense held the Ravens to 1-of-10 on third down, but still allowed 23 first downs and 396 yards for the game. Albert Haynesworth, who continues to be a thorn in Shanahan's side, recorded one tackle and a sack while running with the Redskins reserves.

New York, which led 6-0 at the break, played about as poorly as a team can play offensively in its victory, amassing just seven first downs and 112 total yards. Quarterback Mark Sanchez had a subpar outing (as did the Jets other three signal callers) with a 5-for-10, 12 yard night. LaDainian Tomlinson did show well, though, rushing three times for 26 yards in his second game as a Jet.

New York's defense also played well, holding the Panthers to nine first downs and 175 total yards. Defensive end Vernon Gholston, who has done nothing since the Jets took him with their first pick in the 2008 draft, had a big night, leading the team in tackles with five, including two that went for losses.

2010 NFL Preseason Betting Trend: The Over is now 5-1 in Rex Ryan's six games as head coach in the preseason.
