2009-2010 Miami Dolphins Super Bowl XLIV Odds, Picks & Prediction

The Miami Dolphins opted for the Wildcat formation last season and it paid off with a much better season. They finished tied atop the AFC East standings and received a Wildcard spot only to lose to Baltimore. NFL oddsmakers at Bodog.com have the Miami Dolphins at 40/1 odds to win Super Bowl XLIV. The Dolphins were the surprise team in the NFL last season going 11-5 after a dismal 1-15 2008 season. The Dolphins turned the 2008-09 season around based on the Wildcat formation which propelled the Dolphins into an offensive powerhouse.  QB Chad Pennington was great with 19 TD’s and 3,653 yards passing. Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams provided an excellent dual threat from the backfield and Ted Ginn began to fulfill some of the promise he was drafted for. RB Brown and RB Williams combined for 14 TD’s with 1,575 yards rushing. Ted Ginn has to continue to develop into a reliable option, he had 56 catches for 790 yards with two TD’s. There weren’t many changes during the off season for the Dolphins. They tried to upgrade several spots on defense and the 2009 NFL season promises to have a whole lot more Wildcat in it with the drafting of speedster Pat White.

On defense Jason Taylor returns to his former club, adding depth to a talented group of linebackers. Will Joey Porter be able to have a 2009 season that is up to par with his stellar 2008 season? The Dolphins worked to improve the secondary over the off season, a weak spot for the club last year. They drafted defensive backs in the first and second round in Vontae Davis and Sean Smith. The Dolphins also signed free agent safety Gibril Wilson. If Porter can put together another great season and the new members of the defensive backfield can pick up their game, the Dolphins defense will be solid from top to bottom.

Odds to win AFC East – 8/1
