Monday Night Football: The Vikings are in Houston tonight to take on the Texans at Reliant Stadium. The Monday night preseason special is set to kickoff at 8:00pm ET on ESPN. Monday Night Football: Minnesota Vikings vs Houston Texans Odds, Picks & Predictions at Sportsbetting.com have the home team listed as a -3.5 against the spread favorite.
Minnesota Vikings: Quarterback Brett Favre will make his second start
for the Vikings this evening and he is, no doubt, hoping it looks much better than the first one. Favre completed just 1-of-4 passes for four yards in a 17-13 victory over the Chiefs on Friday, August 21st. The 39 year old field general is scheduled to play the entire first half tonight, in spite of having what he believes to be a cracked rib.
Favre's backup, Tavaris Jackson had a brilliant performance against Kansas City, going 12-of-15 for 202 yards and two touchdowns.
The Vikings defense harassed Matt Cassel the entire first half, frequently forcing him to make plays outside the pocket. Minnesota finished the night with three sacks while holding the Chiefs to 298 yards.
Houston Texans: The Texans evened their preseason record at 1-1 last Saturday night, falling at home 38-14 to the New Orleans Saints. The Texans trailed 17-7 at the break, despite solid performances from quarterback Matt Schaub and running back Steve Slaton. Schaub completed 11 of his 16 pass attempts for 97 yards and a touchdown while Slaton had 30 yards on six carries.
The Houston defense did not fare as well as Dree Brees threw for 87 yards and a touchdown and running back Mike Bell had 100 yards in 10 first half carries. The Saints finished the game with 173 rushing yards (6.4 yards per carry).
Minnesota Vikings +3.5 (-115), Over 39 (-110), +155 (Moneyline)
Houston Texans -3.5 (-105), Under 39 (-110), -175 (Moneyline)
