The Eagles recovered from a slow start to the season to make a late drive to the postseason. They knocked off the Minnesota Vikings and defending champion New York Giants before being sent home for the year. QB Donovan McNabb finished with 23 TD’s after throwing for 3,916 yards. He should have a versatile set of weapons to work with this season with the drafting of Jeremy Maclin and the return of DeSean Jackson. WR Jackson had 62 catches for 912 yards and two TD’s while WR Jeremy Maclin garnered 2,776 all-purpose yards — an NCAA FBS record for a freshman and fifth-most all-time by any player. Most of those yards came from his 80 receptions in which he tallied 1,055 yards and nine touchdowns. RB Brian Westbrook had a stellar year with 233 carries for 936 yards and nine TD’s. If Westbrook stays healthy and returns successfully from off season surgery this team could have one of the best offenses in the league and could emerge as a serious threat in the postseason.
On defense the Eagles were strong all around, ranking 3rd in the league in yardage and 4th in points allowed. Their deep defensive corps shut down opponents' top receiving threats and Trent Cole and Darren Howard emerged as pass rushing weapons. The departure of Brian Dawkins has left some holes on their defense. Young linebackers Stewart Bradley and Akeem Jordan will need to show that last year wasn't a fluke. They have a deep secondary unit that can play consistent football which they’ll need in the ultra competitive NFC East.
