Buffalo Bills vs Detroit Lions 2010 NFL Picks, 2010 NFL Odds & 2010 NFL Predictions: The Buffalo Bills are in Detroit tonight for a final exhibition tune up against the Lions. 2010 NFL Picks, Odds & Predictions at BetUS.com have the Bills listed as a +5 against the spread road dog in the week four preseason clash; the Over/Under is set at 38.5. Tonight's game is scheduled to get underway at 7:00pm ET at Ford Field.
The Bills did not get the Chan Gailey era off to a good start, falling to the Redskins 42-17 in their exhibition opener;
however, the team rebounded by beating the Colts 34-21 on August 19th and the Bengals 35-20 last Saturday.
Quarterbacks Trent Edwards and Ryan Fitzpatrick both played well in the win over Cincinnati, combining for 230 pass yards and two touchdowns while avoiding any costly turnovers. Running back CJ Spiller, the team's first round pick, also impressed with a 12 carry, 52 yard, two touchdown night. Spiller's preseason performance (26 carries, 122 yards, three touchdowns) has likely earned the Clemson product the starting job in the Bills' backfield.
Buffalo's defense did not play particularly well in the win as the Bengals amassed 22 first downs and 395 total yards. The Bills did force two turnovers and record three sacks, though, two of which came from last year's first round pick, defensive end Aaron Maybin.
Detroit also comes into this evening's contest with a 2-1 preseason record after garnering back-to-back wins over the Broncos and Browns. The Lions latest victory, a 35-27 triumph over Cleveland, featured another solid outing from Matthew Stafford, who completed 13-of-17 passes for 141 yards and a touchdown. Rookie running back Jahvid Best had a brief but big night too, carrying the ball one time for 51 yards.
The Browns offense had little difficulty moving the ball against Jim Schwartz' defense, racking up 26 first downs and 414 yards, but rookie cornerback Amari Spievey did play well. The third round pick out of Iowa had six tackles and a sack in the eight point win.
Per usual, tonight's final preseason outing will not include a great deal of time for the starters on either squad, something Stafford touched on earlier this week.
"I'm assuming that a lot of guys that haven't gotten a chance to play as much this preseason will get a chance to play a little bit more," Stafford said. "It'll be fun to watch those guys and kind of watch our team form."
