The Panthers Carolina Panthers vs Pittsburgh Steelers 2010 NFL Odds, Predictions & Picksovercame 11 penalties thanks to another sterling defensive effort as the Titans managed just 13 first downs and 217 yards for the game.

Carolina's defense, which forced three turnovers, limited Chris Johnson to 10 yards in eght carries and held Vince Young to 48 yards on six completions.

Several Panther rookies played well in the win, including quarterback Jimmy Clausen, who completed 4-of-5 passes for 79 yards. Rookie wideouts Brandon LaFell and David Gettis combined for five catches for 62 yards while defensive end Greg Hardy produced three tackles, one sack, and three quarterback hits.

Pittsburgh lost for the first time in exhibition play over the weekend, falling 34-17 to the Broncos in Denver. Despite giving up 34 points, the Steelers defense played well, for the most part, limiting Denver to 268 total yards. The team was doomed, though, by three turnovers, including two from Dennis Dixon in his effort to earn the starting job while Ben Roethlisberger serves a suspension to start the season. Dixon finished the night with a 33.9 passer rating after completing 9-of-16 passes for 94 yards and the two aforementioned picks.

Byron Leftwich, Dixon's main competition for suspension starter, went 0-for-4 in limited action.

Dixon, Leftwich, and veteran Charlie Batch all figure to see time under center tonight as Head Coach Mike Tomlin finalizes his Roethlisberger replacement decision.
