The NFC North belonged to the Green Bay Packers in 2007, but they have question marks after trading franchise quarterback Brett Favre in order to make way for Aaron Rodgers. The Vikings could be knocking on the door to first place and knocking hard. 2008 NFC North odds at Bodoglife.com are giving both clubs a solid chance. Here are their odds for the NFC North division: Green Bay Packers 9/4, Minnesota Vikings 10/11, Chicago Bears 4/1, and the Detroit Lions 11/2. Favorite: The Vikings have overtaken Green Bay as the favorite to win the North. If Favre were still in place this development would probably be out of the question. However, Favre is gone and Minnesota has two things that help teams consistently win games in the NFL, which accounts for all the Viking buzz. The first thing is an exceptional defense and the second is an outstanding ground attack led by Adrian Peterson. Runner up: Green Bay, despite the loss of Favre, is still a really stout football team. Their defense was impressive last year and it should only get better this season. Aaron Rodgers is largely an unknown as a starting quarterback, but he was not taken in the first round a few years ago because of his ability to grow a shaggy beard. Do not count the Packers out, but feel free to pass on the Bears and Lions.
