2009-2010 Tennessee Titans Super Bowl XLIV Odds, Picks & Prediction

by Scott Burgess on Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

The Tennessee Titans cruised to a 10-0 start in 2008 eventually going 13-3 receiving a first round bye, only to lose to Baltimore in the Division round. This season proves to be even better with a commanding running game and new core of receivers. NFL oddsmakers at Bodog.com have the Tennessee Titans at 18/1 odds to win Super Bowl XLIV. The Titans biggest offseason blow was the loss of all world defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth to free agency. Their next big issue is who will be starting QB Vince Young or Kerry Collins? QB Vince Young started just one game last year after starting 15 games in 2007-08. He had nine TD’s after throwing for 2,546 yards before injuries set in. QB Kerry Collins stepped in and vaulted the Titans into a playoff team. He had 12 TD’s after throwing for 2,676 yards.  Either or the Titans will have their 7th ranked running tantum of Chris Johnson and LenDale White back. RB Chris Johnson had nine TD’s with 1,228 yards rushing, while RB LenDale White had 15 TD’s with 773 yards rushing. They upgraded at wide receiver by bringing in Nate Washington from Pittsburgh, but he isn't a number 1 guy. Luckily all of the wide receivers will face single coverage as the running attack commands more attention. Nate Washington had three TD’s after catching for 631 yards, while their top WR Justin Gage had six TD’s after catching for 651 yards.

On defense you just can't replace a player like Albert Haynesworth, he was an absolutely dominating force over the 2008 season. The question is if the rest of the defensive line proves their own talent in 2009 or if they collapse in his absence. The defensive backfield is another strong spot for the club. Cortland Finnegan and Michael Griffin both emerged as big time players during the 2008 season, and having the veteran Chris Hope back there with them certainly helps. Finnegan and Griffin combined for 145 tackles, while Chris Hope had 78 tackles with three sacks. Their defense should be able to put together another very solid season even without Haynesworth, as their unit is ripe with talent.

Odds to win AFC South – 23/10
