Arizona Cardinals vs Denver Broncos NFL Picks, Odds & Predictions

by Matt Foust on Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

The Arizona Cardinals are still chasing their first preseason win and tonight's meeting with the Broncos in Denver will mark their final chance to grab it. The teams are scheduled to kickoff at 9:00pm ET at Invesco Field. Arizona Cardinals vs Denver Broncos NFL Picks, Odds & Predictions at Bodog.com have Ken Whisenhunt's squad listed as a -3.5 against the spread road favorite.

Arizona Cardinals: The Cardinals put a lot of points on the board Arizona Cardinals vs Denver Broncos NFL Picks, Odds & Predictionsagainst the Packers last Friday night, but their shoddy play led to a 44-37 loss. Arizona had four turnovers in the game, one of which Green Bay turned into a touchdown, and 15 penalties for a total of 96 yards.

Quarterback Kurt Warner failed to find the endzone for a third straight game, completing 10-of-16 passes for 139 yards and an interception. His backup, however, had an unbelievable outing. Matt Leinart connected on 24 of his 38 pass attempts for 360 yards and three touchdowns.

The Cardinals defense got abused by Packers signal caller Aaron Rodgers in the loss. The Green Bay quarterback threw for 258 yards and three touchdowns. Mike McCarthy's offense also produced 123 rush yards in 25 attempts for a 4.9 yards per carry average.

Denver Broncos: The Broncos are still looking for their first win under new Head Coach Josh McDaniels. Denver's preseason record fell to 0-3 under the new regime after a 27-17 loss to the Bears on Sunday night. McDaniels was victimized by the quarterback he discarded as Jay Cutler hit on 15 of his 21 passes for 144 yards and a touchdown.

An exhibition win, however, is probably not the Broncos or McDaniels chief concern right now as the team's quarterback situation has reached def-con 5.

Backup Chris Simms is out with a high ankle sprain and will not return for at least another two weeks. Starting quarterback Kyle Orton, meanwhile, cut and dislocated the index finger on his passing hand in the loss to Chicago. Orton's injury required stitches and he will not participate in tonight's game. Rookie signal caller Tom Brandstater will get extensive action against the Cardinals as a result.
