NFL Preseason Week 4: Indianapolis Colts vs Cincinnati Bengals NFL Picks, Odds & Predictions

by Matt Foust on Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

NFL Preseason Week 4: The Colts look to even their preseason record at 2-2 tonight as they take on the Bengals at 7:30pm ET at Paul Brown Stadium. Cincinnati will attempt to do the same after falling to the Rams at home last Thursday. BetUS.com has the Bengals listed as a -4 against the spread favorite in their NFL Preseason Week 4: Indianapolis Colts vs Cincinnati Bengals NFL Picks, Odds & Predictions.

Indianapolis Colts: Indy looked lethargic last Saturday, losing 17-18 NFL Preseason Week 4: Indianapolis Colts vs Cincinnati Bengals NFL Picks, Odds & Predictionsto the Lions at Ford Field in Detroit. The Colts racked up a grand total of 93 first half yards, the majority of that coming on an 80 yard first quarter touchdown drive engineered by quarterback Peyton Manning. Manning finished the game with 12 completions in 15 attempts for 123 yards and a touchdown.

The Colts defense gave up 227 yards to the Lions in the first half and 412 for the game. The Lions also pounded out 151 rush yards for an average of 4.3 yards per carry.

It is likely that Indianapolis will look much the same tonight as their starters will hardly see the field.

Cincinnati Bengals: The Bengals did not elicit cheers of elation either with their showing last Thursday at home against St. Louis. Cincy lost the game 24-21 and trailed 14-21 at the break. Granted, starting quarterback Carson Palmer did not play, but he never plays on defense.

The Rams, who have had their share of offensive struggles, hung two first quarter touchdowns on the Bengals defense. Backup quarterback Kyle Boller looked outstanding, completing 14-of-20 passes for 96 yards and a touchdown.

Carson's brother, Jordan Palmer, had his best outing of the preseason, connecting on five of his six pass attempts for 102 yards and a touchdown. He did, however, fire an interception. Some other bright spots in the loss included an eight carry 54 yard performance from running back Bernard Scott and a two catch, 62 yard, one touchdown showing from wide receiver Chris Henry.
