The Browns had an outstanding draft and made a big step to secure a successful future but they are still a couple years from competing most likely. Sportsbook.com has posted the Cleveland Browns betting odds to win Super Bowl XLII at 200 to 1.
“I think this the year TE Kellen Winslow becomes an impact player. If the Quarterback can manage to get the ball in his hands they could put up some points,” stated Point-Spreads.com NFL Handicapper Brad Marchetti . “The Browns are still a couple years away from competing in the AFC but they are moving in the right direction. 13-1 betting odds to win the division seem about right but they won't win it this year.”
If the Browns expect to get out of the cellar they will need to put more than 14.9 points on the board and 264.6 yards. Brady Quinn has been stellar during the preseason and it will be hard to keep him on the bench very long. Whoever steers the ship will have a couple young and talented targets to throw to in TE Kellen Winslow Jr. and WR Braylon Edwards.
Finally healthy, Kellen Winslow proved he was the real thing last season en route to 89 catches and 875 yards. Jamal Lewis was signed during the off-season and although his better years are behind him, he shouldn’t have a problem improving the Browns’ stagnant running game from last season.
The defensive line should get a bit of a boost with the acquisition of DE Robaire Smith but in the end of the day they are an average unit. The LB unit is nothing to write home about either but they appear to have a good one in Kamerion Wimbley who registered 11 sacks last year.
At the draft this past April, the Browns did a ton to secure a successful future but they are still probably a couple years away from doing any significant damage in the top heavy North.
