The New England Patriots are set to put the 2007 season behind them and kick off this year with a home tilt against the Kansas City Chiefs. The game will start at 1:00pm ET at Gillette Stadium and will broadcast live on CBS. NFL Week 1 odds at BetUS.com have Kansas City as a massive +15 road underdog. The Patriots have more controversy surrounding them than any other team in the NFL. They have now lost five games in a row counting the pre-season and their MVP quarterback, Tom Brady, did not practice until this week. Still, the Patriots will be viewed as the best team in the league until their offense proves that it is less than extraordinary. The Chiefs are coming off a horrendous 4-12 season and are in the throws of a major youth movement. Herman Edwards squad is now the youngest in the league, and, despite some talent on the roster, is certain to have some growing pains throughout the course of the season. A positive for the Chiefs is the return of All-Pro running back Larry Johnson. Johnson suffered a broken foot mid-season last year and missed the final eight games. Kansas City was 4-4 with Johnson in the lineup and 0-8 without his services. Key Matchup: The Chiefs revamped offensive line and Larry Johnson must move the ball on the ground against the Patriots defensive front. If they can do this well, they could keep this game closer than people think. If they lose that battle their defense will be exhausted by the end of this game and things could get ugly.
